Glaciologist

Dr Jason Roberts

Dr Roberts’ background is in computational and experimental fluid dynamics, where he has worked on both engineering scale problems and geophysical flows in the form of ocean and ice sheet modelling.  He is currently part of the ACE CRC’s ice core research group studying what Antarctic ice cores can tell us about the previous climate of Antarctica and Australia.

RESEARCH

Dr Roberts is the chief investigator on the ICECAP project which is conducting airborne surveys of the ice-sheet to better determine the key variables that are controlling it’s flow, the geometry of the bedrock and the type of rock underneath the ice.  In addition, he works as part of the group interpreting the ice core records for information on Antarctic and Australia’s past climate.
